The name of O.W.C.A., the secret spy organization from “Phineas and Ferb,” may stand for the “Organization Without a Cool Acronym,” but since 2012, a branch of this paramilitary group has been working out of a place whose name actually is a cool acronym: Epcot. While they typically only allows animals like Perry the Platypus (AKA Agent P) to join their ranks as secret agents, human guests visiting Walt Disney World’s second theme park can sign up to provide Perry some emergency backup as part of “Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure.” Under the guidance of O.W.C.A. leader Major Monogram and his unpaid intern Carl via the Field Operative Notification Equipment (or F.O.N.E.), recruited agents take part in at least one of seven interactive adventures featuring characters from the fan favorite Disney Channel series throughout the pavilions of World Showcase. A few of these familiar faces can be seen on “video screens” at the game’s main headquarters located between Future World and World Showcase including Major Monogram, Perry the Platypus incognito as Phineas and Ferb’s mild-mannered pet, and Perry’s evil scientist nemesis Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
While Dr. Doofenshmirtz typically sets his sights on only taking over the Tri-State Area as opposed to world conquest, he did take part in a few globe-trotting adventures over the course of the four season run of “Phineas and Ferb.” In the 2010’s “Summer Belongs to You,” for example, Doof and his daughter Vanessa end up visiting two of the eleven nations featured in World Showcase, specifically Japan and France, just over the course of that one-hour special. Doofenshmirtz has also brought his own brand of evil to several other locations that would be familiar to Epcot fans including Canada (“Sidetracked”), The United Kingdom (“A Hard Day’s Knight” and “Elementary My Dear Stacey”), Italy (via an emotionally scarring backstrory from “We Call It Maze”), and China (“Doof Dynasty,” albeit in an alternate timeline where he is an invader known as Doofus Kahn during the Ming Dynasty). However, as long as Perry the Platypus on the case, it’s a safe bet that both the world and the World Showcase are safe from whatever “inator” Doofenshmirtz can throw at us.
