Now through the end of the month, Disney Springs is celebrating “Christmas in July,” so, in that same spirit, I thought I would share a look back at some the festivities form Walt Disney World’s waterfront shopping and entertainment district’s previous holiday season. Disney Springs marked its first Christmas after the opening of Town Center with several new seasonal offerings including the “Starbright Holidays” drone show and “Christmas Tree Trail,” which featured over a dozen Christmas trees inspired by various Disney films and characters. The Stitch-inspired ornament pictured above, for example, could be seen on the display’s “Lilo and Stitch” tree, and, with its tropical theme, the tree seems like it would be the perfect decoration for a “Christmas in July” celebration. However, this wasn’t the only way that the infamous Experiment 626 was featured at Disney Springs during last year’s holiday season.
“Stitch’s Gift Hunt” was a free scavenger hunt that sent guests around Disney Springs to help Stitch with his Christmas shopping for the various members of his “ohana.” After picking up a booklet at Town Center’s Welcome Center, participants would travel to various stores, each with a cutout of Stitch holding a different present hidden somewhere inside it. After matching all of the sticker representing the various gifts on Stitch list in with the corresponding store in which they were found, guests could return to the Welcome Center or another participating location with their completed booklet and receive a souvenir button. While we don’t know exactly what Disney Springs has in store for the Holidays this year, their “Christmas in July” festivities clearly show that they just can’t wait until then to start celebrating “the most wonderful time of the year.”
